Hyundai AutoEver(CEO Yoon-Koo Kim) has been certified as an accredited inspection body in the field of 'Road vehicles – Functional safety.'

Accredited inspection bodies are certified by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), which is under the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. KOLAS assesses whether a specific organization has the capability to inspect the quality, safety, and processes of individual industrial sectors, in accordance with international standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/IEC). Inspection results from institutions accredited by KOLAS guarantee official credibility within South Korea.

The area for which Hyundai AutoEver received accreditation is 'Road vehicles – Functional safety.' 'Road vehicle functional safety' refers to the prevention of accidents caused by malfunctions or failures of vehicle-related electrical and electronic systems. Hyundai AutoEver demonstrated its capability to professionally evaluate 18 detailed indicators related to 'Road vehicle functional safety,' including SW development, HW development, and system.

With this accreditation, Hyundai AutoEver plans to perform functional safety inspection tasks for its own vehicle software (SW) and for its clients. The company aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the vehicle SW development process. Furthermore, Hyundai AutoEver plans to accept inspection requests from automakers, auto parts suppliers, vehicle SW companies, and electronics companies, providing precise inspection services. Previously, verification of vehicle-related functional safety primarily relied on overseas institutions.

Hyundai AutoEver was able to be selected as an accredited inspection body by KOLAS after enhancing its functional safety inspection capabilities for about two years, starting from August 2023. The company plans to expand the current 18 detailed inspection indicators in the future.

Ryu Seok-mun, Executive Vice President and Head of the SW Platform Division at Hyundai AutoEver, stated, "Based on the establishment of a robust vehicle functional safety inspection system, we will provide highly reliable verification services to our clients."
