Expands Cybersecurity Business to Construction Equipment

■ Secures cybersecurity risk assessment project for HD Hyundai Infracore and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment

Hyundai AutoEver (CEO Yoon-Koo Kim) has won a cybersecurity risk assessment project for HD Hyundai Infracore and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, marking its entry into the heavy equipment sector with enhanced cybersecurity initiatives.

The project will support compliance with the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), a regulation designed to strengthen cybersecurity across digital products, which will take full effect in December 2027. Under the CRA, products with digital functions—including industrial robots, smart devices, and manufacturing equipment—must meet stringent security requirements. As regulatory scope expands, connected construction equipment is now also subject to compliance.

Manufacturers seeking CRA certification must implement concrete cybersecurity risk assessment frameworks to reinforce product and equipment security. Risk assessment is critical for predicting cybersecurity incidents and identifying vulnerabilities, making specialized security providers increasingly important in this space.

Through this project, Hyundai AutoEver is extending its mobility cybersecurity expertise beyond passenger and commercial vehicles to construction machinery. Since construction equipment shares many similarities with vehicles—from drivetrains to communication interfaces—Hyundai AutoEver’s proven track record in automotive cybersecurity provides a strong foundation for success.

The core of the project involves systematically analyzing potential cybersecurity threats to the key systems and networks of construction equipment. By identifying risks in advance, Hyundai AutoEver enables HD Hyundai to deliver construction machinery with world-class cybersecurity standards to end customers.

Leveraging its extensive experience in vehicle cybersecurity, Hyundai AutoEver will propose security enhancements aligned with international standards. Solutions will include measures such as ensuring software integrity, deploying advanced authentication technologies, and preventing unauthorized access—ultimately improving the safety and reliability of HD Hyundai’s construction equipment.

The initiative will cover approximately 70 different types of construction machinery, with Hyundai AutoEver providing tailored cybersecurity evaluations and quality improvement plans for each model.

“Hyundai AutoEver will further strengthen its mobility cybersecurity capabilities and continue to deliver customer-centric security services,” said Won-Hyuk Choi, Head of Cybersecurity Division at Hyundai AutoEver.
